GENERAL
INFORMATION ON SCHENGEN VISAS
Schengen
visas are issued by: Austria, Belgium, Denmark,
Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy,
Luxembourg, Norway, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain
and Sweden.
If
you are not sure whether you require a visa to visit
a particular Schengen country, please call that
country's embassy. If you need further information
on a visa for Denmark you can call our Schengen
information line:
0900
1600115
The
issue of Schengen visas is discretionary and depends
on examination of each individual case, including
purpose of visit and intention to return.
A
Schengen visa is not appropriate if you wish to
remain in a Schengen country for longer than 3 months
or take up employment or establish a business or
trade or profession.
Apart
from these so called short-term or travel visas
there are 2 other types of Schengen visas:
·
The
airport transit visa allows holders
to pass through the international zone of an airport
of a Schengen member state without access to the
national territory of the Schengen member state.
Nationals
of the following countries require an airport transit
visa to transit through a Danish airport: Afghanistan,
Bangladesh, Congo(The Democratic Republic),
Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, India,
Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan,
Somalia and Sri Lanka, unless
they are residents in an EU member state,
an EEA country, USA or Canada with permission to
return at least 3 months after transiting Denmark.
For
India please note that an airport
transit visa is not required for Indian nationals
in possession of a valid visa to an EU or
EEA country, USA or Canada.
·
The
transit visa enables applicants to pass through
the territory of one or more Schengen member states
on their way to another country outside the Schengen
area.
Please
note that the documents required for both the airport
transit visa and the transit visa
may differ from those required for the short stay
entry visa.
The
following visa information only
concerns applications for short term visas:
Please
note that holders of a Schengen visa are still subject
to immigration control and are not guaranteed entry
into any of the Schengen countries, even though
they may hold a valid visa for these countries.
